In a moment that has stunned both Washington insiders and national security analysts, President Trump this week stood before reporters in the Oval Office and declared:
“Hegseth is doing a great job. He had nothing to do with this. How do you bring Hegseth into this?”
Here was the whole exchange: Reporter in the oval office yesterday: "Should Pete Hegseth Consider his position"?

How do we bring Hegseth into this? Hegseth had nothing to do with this? These types of questions raise more troubling questions about whether Trump even read the signal chat thread in question or whether white house counsel even briefed him on what the controversy entails and why people are calling for @MikeWaltz47 and @PeteHegseth's resignation. In fact, the evidence now emerging further calls into question not just Pete Hegseth’s role in the unfolding Signal chat scandal, but more urgently, the competence and integrity of White House Counsel David Warrington.
For those who have seen the now-viral screenshots of the Signal group titled “#HouthiPCSmallGroup”, Hegseth’s fingerprints are everywhere. He is not a background observer. He is a central player—coordinating timelines for military strikes, advising on operational security (#OPSEC), shaping political messaging, and relaying times and battlefield confirmations of lethal outcomes.
Hegseth's words were not of someone “not involved.” They are the direct display of a man helping oversee military operations that, according to reports, may have been leaked in real-time to a journalist accidentally added to the chat.
So the real question is: How is it possible that President Trump is unaware of this?
There are only three explanations—none of them good.
1. He hasn’t been briefed — which would mean David Warrington has failed his most basic duty as White House Counsel: to protect the President by informing him of legal, ethical, and national security risks tied to his staff.
2. He has been briefed but wasn’t told the full extent — which would mean the Counsel’s Office either downplayed the severity or engaged in a cover-up.
3. He’s lying — which would implicate the entire administration in a coordinated defense of a man who may have violated operational security in the most public, traceable way possible.
If David Warrington has not placed the #Signal messages on the President’s desk—complete with analysis, risk assessments, and legal implications—then he must be fired immediately. This is not a failure of paperwork; it is a failure of constitutional responsibility and national defense.
The role of White House Counsel is not to protect political allies. It is not to insulate media darlings like Hegseth from scrutiny. It is to advise the President truthfully and thoroughly—especially in times of crisis. While Trump has resorted to his accusations against the included journalist calling it all a witch hunt, other top republican leaders are calling for an investigation and encouraging Trump not to blame the journalist. "“I just want folks to own up to their mistakes and not blame #TheAtlantic or the reporter. Be honest,” said @RepDonBacon (R-Neb.). “The worst part of this was transmitting highly classified information on an unclassified system, and one that #Russia and #China were clearly monitoring.” Recent reports indicate that several Republican senators are joining their Democratic colleagues in calling for an investigation into the Signal chat leak involving senior national security officials, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and National Security Adviser Mike Waltz. The controversy arose when sensitive military plans were inadvertently shared in a Signal group chat that mistakenly included journalist @JeffreyGoldberg.
According to the Guardian, "@SenatorWicker, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, expressed concern about the incident and confirmed that the committee would be looking into the matter on a bipartisan basis. Additionally, a bipartisan group of U.S. senators has demanded a probe into the scandal, emphasizing the need to address the breach of sensitive information. While some #Republican senators are advocating for an investigation, others are defending #Hegseth. Senator Josh @HawleyMO stated that Hegseth played a crucial role in the successful strikes against the Houthis and dismissed calls for his resignation as "hot garbage." This is very sad to hear about Hawley who proclaims to be a Christian.
The Justice Department has also indicated, as I predicted, that it will not pursue an investigation into the Signal chats, with @AGPamBondi emphasizing the success of the mission and stating that the information shared was not classified. Deflecting culpability with focus on the success of the mission is not her job. Her job is to uphold the law that she swore an oath to and now the Lord Jesus Christ has revealed the true hearts of these newly elected leaders that conservatives like myself and other #MAGA supporters hoped would come in and change everything and now we have been torpedoed by no doubt the deep state. As obvious as it is that this was an evil genius move by the likes of the staunchest Trump enemies, it has indeed brought out hidden sins that lay dormant underneath the Trump administration officials hearts and that is what is so sad here. They all lied and @PamBondi who I had admired has now thrown her integrity in the toilet and they are not worthy to wear the cross around their necks, not a one of them and this is the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I am confident as a 35 year biblical scholar who voted for these people that I know the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ. Overall, the incident has led to a mix of support and criticism within the Republican Party, with some members breaking ranks to call for accountability, while others continue to back the administration's officials. In any competent administration, a white house lawyer who failed to brief the President on evidence showing one of his top public figures potentially coordinating a live military strike on an unsecured messaging platform would be out of a job before the day ended. We are talking about primarily an election lawyer in Warrington, not an ongoing seasoned Whitehouse legal strategist. It would seem like any person with Common sense would have better advised the president and I'm sorry, @SusieWiles I have lost all confidence in you and the ice princess has not stepped up to do the job properly at all. Overwhelmed in the headlights of the crisis and none of them seem to know how to take legal charge and control of a legal crisis.
And let’s be clear: this isn’t just about Pete Hegseth. The Signal chat includes a rogue’s gallery of high-level officials— @JDVance who caved under relatively weak pressure from Hegseth, Michael Waltz, John Ratcliffe, Joe Kent, and more. The messages are not subtle. They discuss timing, targets, economic leverage over Europe, and political spin in the same breath. At one point, Michael Waltz casually confirms a building collapsed, killing a “top missile guy” who was positively identified walking into his girlfriend’s building. JD Vance replies: “Excellent.” Excellent??? Are we talking about civilian targets here??
The American people deserve more than shrugging shoulders and press-room deflections. If Warrington saw this and failed to act, then he is not fit to serve either. If he didn’t see it, why not? And if he saw it and helped bury it? That’s not incompetence. That’s complicity. The Lord will keep these people in power long enough to potentially fulfil prophecy, which looks like the destruction of Iran as prophesied in Daniel Chapter 8, which is about to unfold it seems the way they are positioning the B-2 bombers, which also shouldn't have been made known as it puts them in danger from Yemen rockets on their return, so if they were smart they will probably take out both #Yemen and #Iran at the same time now. Remember what happened In Serbia with one of our stealth bombers being shot down. A pity warning on my part for sure. Lord please let it not be human benevolence. Not My will But Yours oh Lord Jesus, you who seem like you are preparing to release the rider on the red horse. Praise To The King Of Kings, and Lord Of Lords, Jesus Christ, Your will be done.
